Ski clothing

We don't want to teach your grandmother to suck eggs, but when you go on your Meribel ski holiday, it can be a bit chilly, but as they say in Sweden, "there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!"

If you haven't got the right kit already, you have several options...

1. Buy the very latest gear, and look the part - obviously as you do your 360 degree helicopter jumps down the mountain, you'll want to your kit to shout "Look at Me", but you'll also want it to be warm.  Beach shorts and hawaiin shirts are probably not the best choice.  There's plenty of fantastic ski shops in Meribel, but you may want to buy before you travel, to make sure you're booted and suited before you get here.

2. If you're more concerned with budget and you are a responsible member of our consumer society, there are some second hand ski clothing shops around in the UK  www.polarexchange.co.uk for example.  We haven't found a second-hand ski clothing shop in Meribel yet, but we're still looking.

3. If you're concerned with budget, and have very little concern about your image, then ski clothing hire shops are for you.  There's a few online in the UK, that will post out to you before you travel, and then you have to post the kit back.  It can certainly save you a lot of money, if you're not planning on re-using your kit again, or you have children that keep insisting on growing each year.

Here's a few links to ski clothing hire shops:

4. The final option is to borrow some from us at Meribel Ski Chalets.  We do have a suitcase full of old ski clothes that we're very happy to lend out to you.  They may not look great now, but they were the latest in fashion at some point in their lives!  Coming soon, to the Meribel Ski Chalets website, we'll itemise what is actually in the magic suitcase, and then if you drop us an email before you come to Meribel, asking for a specific item, we'll make sure it's there and waiting for you, absolutely no charge.

Now you've got your clothing sorted, don't forget you'll also need skis and boots, and helmets (a must for kids, and highly recommended for grown-ups too).  You'll find out about all that on our Ski Hire page
