Here at Meribel Towers, we’re all dancing around the office in our ski boots, thrilled at the sight of fresh snow falling.  Now we just need to wait for the lifts to open on the 9th of December.  So while we wait, what’s keeping us busy/  Well there’s a few tough things to do before the season starts:
1. Cook Testing
This is a very arduous task of going  to our chalet cooks and trying out their lovely home-cooked food.  Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Steve and Catherine, and enjoying a delicious starter of scallops and chorizo on a bed of cauliflower puree.  For our main course, we were treated to sea bass fillets on a bed of leek and pancetta with spring greens and hasselback potatoes.  And just to finish me off, we had poached pear in mulled wine jus served with mascarpone and cream.  I can happily report back that Steve and Catherine can cook and will look after you very well.
2. Wine Tasting
Another tough one this, but somehow we have to decide which wines we serve you.  We use our very trusted wine guru Paul Bowyer, who runs Viniguide and flits between Marlborough and the Langeudoc region of South West France.  We usually manage to narrow it down to 4 or 5 choice reds and whites, and a delicious Champagne and Cremant, but the discussion goes on long into the night (this is certainly not a 9-5 job!)
3. Soap Trying
Yet again we put our bodies on the line for you.  Someone has to test which Molton Brown luxury flavours we’ll offer you in our bathrooms – whether it’s Pink Pepperpot or Ginger Lily or Mulberry & Thyme.  These are tough decisions, and we rely on our expert bathers to come up with the perfect combination of soaps, shampoos and conditioners to offer you.  Again, this goes on long into the night, (or at least until all the hot water runs out!)
So we’re nearly ready to welcome you to the mountains, we just need to pack up and head out there ourselves to get all set-up.
Look forward to seeing you on the slopes.
Will, Lara and the Team.
