The lack of snow in the French Alps has been in the news, but there’s still been plenty of skiing on offer in Meribel, nestled nicely in the middle of the 3 Valleys.
With state of the art snow making equipment and pisting experts who are performing a near snow equivalent of the Biblical Feeding of the Five Thousand…ensuring that the links between all the Valleys are open with runs for most ability levels, skiers have still been able to enjoy themselves and more than that, a return to Meribel where the après has been in full swing.
Naturally being a bit higher, at 2,300 metres, and with the Cime de Caron glacier, the focus has been on Val Thorens, with everyone following the snow bricked road to there and enjoying over 90% of the runs which are open. With the Meribel lift company doing their utmost to ensure that skiers can still navigate between the Valleys, there is plenty of pre-Christmas cheer and good will amongst those who have been negotiating the runs and valleys.
Come home time, it has just been a hop, skip and a jump to the many bars that present themselves on the main thoroughfare of Meribel Centre. Perhaps a quick demi at Meribar right there on the Chaudanne, or just a bit further up a chocolat chaud and some light bites at Barometer Bar…the atmosphere is still building in time for Christmas and the season in general.
With a quintessential Savoyard approach to hospitality, all the restaurants and eateries are in full swing and enticing hungry and innocent passers-by with their mouth-watering aromas…tartiflette, cheese fondues. The smells are irresistible and the food even more so.
With our truly international staff resort team (Kenyans, Australians, Irish and Scottish) here at Meribel Ski Chalets, now fully at home in our 5 cosy chalets, having carried out the Management’s yearly obligatory (well we always claim this so we make sure we eat like kings!) cook tests, they are ready to unleash wonderful hospitality upon you, Meribel Ski Chalets style.
So with Christmas just around the corner, there are plenty of presents awaiting anyone who wants to choose Meribel as their ski holiday destination of choice. Why don’t you check our availability today and make sure you don’t miss out on a ski holiday to remember’
Well there can be no escaping the news that Biblical proportions of snow fell over the post Christmas weekend and some of the chaos that ensued.
However, as with nearly every story there is in this particular instance, more than a happy ending…layer upon layer of the soft, fluffy white stuff – SNOW!
It might have been a little slower in arriving this year but when it came, it really did come.
Now set up for the rest of the season, we can look forward to another bumper year of skiing in Meribel and the wider Three Valleys, with everywhere now open and the opportunities to explore some of the bountiful off-piste secteurs, increasing daily.
At last, journalistic reports have something to meaningfully chirp about and us as providers of ski and snowboard holidays can confidently extol the virtues of a catered alpine ski retreat here in the French Alps.
That’s great news indeed. I’ve seen some great pictures of Meribel these last few days. It looks awesome.
Yes – and the good news Kieron is that there is more forecast for the weekend along with the fact that January always = quiet slopes.
