Walking & Hiking in Meribel
If you’re less inclined towards two-wheeled based activities, then there is a fantastic alternative with kilometre upon kilometre of marked walking and hiking trails. With walks to suit people of all ages, ability and fitness levels, the only requirement is that you bring yourself along and wear some hardy walking boots.
Surrounded by inspiring mountain peaks and the wonderful array of flora, fauna and mountain wildlife, Meribel really does lend itself to you being able to enjoy a wonderful walking or hiking experience.
You can choose between cooling, sheltered tree-lined paths or choose to walk out onto the expansive rolling planes of the Meribel valley, where you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views and a real sense of being close to nature. Either way, you will enjoy every moment of your Alpine adventure.

If you fancy something different then why not packing a little extra in the rucksack and aim for one of the 28 ‘Refuges’ that are located in the Vanoise National Park. Perhaps you could indulge in an overnight stay in a secluded mountain retreat?!
Purchase a lift pass (Meripass) costing €49 for 6 days, which also includes access to the swimming pool and ice rink in Meribel and enables one to navigate the 3 Valleys by lift and foot. Meribel finds itself on the edge of 2,700 acre Tueda Nature Reserve, rich in nature, wildlife and stunning scenery.
A variety of walking trails/hikes that vary in difficulty, altitude, length and style e.g. point to point or circuitous, a couple of hours or all day. In order to orientate yourself better when walking or hiking in Meribel, it would be well worth investing in one of the ‘Guide des Sentiers’ aka guide plans, which can be purchased at the Tourist Office. These are the best way to familiarise yourself with the routes available and will help you make the most out of your stay. Alternatively, you can just pick up a free map of the area, and start your adventure!
